Description
A great option for entire families. Even the youngest viewers, just a few years old, can come to the performance. Carnival of the Animals is a good title for children's first contact with a ballet performance.
The Carnival of the Animals is a series of miniatures performed by various groups of instrumentalists. The piece, described by the composer as a zoological fantasy, was intended to be created as a musical joke. Initially performed during private social gatherings, it reportedly entertained listeners until they cried. Camille Saint-Saëns, however, refused to present it to a wider audience, and ultimately the score of Carnival was published only after the composer's death. The work quickly gained enormous popularity.
The show, choreographed by Katarzyna Kozielska, takes viewers into the fantastic world of animals using various dance techniques. The set design and costumes by Joanna Borkowska, whose designs are based on a certain convention - the animals remain recognizable to children, although they are not presented in a literal way, perfectly match the music and choreographic vision.
