Description
The titular Rigoletto is a princely jester - a character, as is often the case in Verdi's works, eluding unequivocal assessment. The action of the operais centered around it, full of human drama and extreme emotions.
The extremely dynamic story is a timeless story about interpersonal relationships - about sacrifice, love, longing, but also about rejection and revenge. Extremely evocative and emotional music by Verdi makes the bitter reflection about the world and human nature even clearer.
One of the most famous opera arias also comes from the opera. La donna è mobile became a hit right after its premiere and has remained so to this day.
