Verbum nobile is a one-act comic opera composed by Stanisław Moniuszko in 1861. This lighthearted and humorous story takes place in a noble manor and revolves around an old promise – a “word of honor” – which leads to a series of amusing misunderstandings between the characters.
With its melodic music, cheerful atmosphere, and colorful depiction of old Polish customs, the opera remains one of the most beloved short works in the Polish operatic repertoire.
